Crazy rings from my brother during Christmas: leopard, lizard

Black on heart

Bargain Buy at $18.99

Goodbye was always one word (or is it considered two?) I’ve found hard to utter. Granted that the circumstances are final and permanent (like…hmmmm…I don’t know..migrating to Houston perhaps), it can either mean see you later or it may be a possible end to a wonderful relationship developed through time. I’ve discovered that most of the time it is the latter one. Personally, I am no PRO in adjusting to relationships. They say If it’s not broken, why fix it; If it’s working why change it?  I don’t handle change very well. Besides these things aren’t similar to the light decisions we’re used to making everyday like what food to eat, what outfit to wear—emotions are invested in relationships and when emotions are involved, by nature I tend to be on my guard.

Crazy how being in an LDR can strip you off that way of thinking, it somehow changes your outlook in life. With a lot of struggle (and I mean a LOT), I’ve finally accepted that I cannot be in control of everything. Relationships change, sometimes for the good and sometimes for the bad; people come and go and I’ve learned to gamble a little. And if I do get hurt along the way…hey, I guess we’re just charging it to experience, huh? That’s how you level-up experience wise…you have to get hurt, you have to learn.

Let Go and Let God.  It took me forever to grasp the meaning of that phrase. I’ve embraced it and look where it got me—status: currently satisfied with life. Haha. Finally, thank you Lord! And with a slightly heavy heart I am willing to say goodbye to a bunch of people that have impacted my life. To 2 of my beautiful peks, Hessa and Elaine, who have gone back to the motherland, I wish you all the best. Take every single VTR opportunity that you can get a hold of and make names for yourselves. Chase your dreams. Most importantly, I don’t care what other people have to say about your move as long as you girls are happy. And to Sister De, our choir director who has re-introduced music back into my life, I am forever grateful. Sister, It’s a different calling this time—less music and more of the habit. Haha. I’ll definitely be dropping by Italy to visit you one of these days. Count on that.

On a different note, I’ve just googled the word ‘goodbye’ and it actually originated from the phrase ‘God be with you’…See, ‘goodbyes’ aren’t all that bad.

Despedida Photos:

(2 Despedidas in less than 5 days, sigh)

Molto Bene’s Chicken Alfredo and a refillable glass of Sangria. Delicioso.

Photo Disruptions so Hessa can’t pack. Haha

I’ll miss you so much mane.

Less Class More Craze

Another late catch-up post:

Woke up Christmas Morning and was excited to use some of my Christmas gifts…clutch from Vynna, peacock ring from Paulo and my Burberry perfume from Mom and Pop. Feeling a little bit playful with my outfit, I decided to forgo my classic crisp slacks and opted for these printed jeans. Crazy pants for the crazy holidays.

(BLOUSE: sheer, chiffon, Wet Seal/ TANKTOP: Philippines/ PANTS: Wet Seal, 5 for $20/ SHOES: Faux Snakeskin, Wet Seal/ PURSE: Spiked, Animal Print, Clutch, from Vynna/ ACCESSORIES: Earrings: Aldo, 2 pairs for $5/ Bracelet: leather, studded, F21/ Bangles: thrifted, $5/ RING: from Paulo)

An outfit for Christmas Morn

Giving classic ensembles an edge

Double-purpose accessory: My Forever 21 belt made into a bow tie

Hello, my self-defense clutch.

These pants somewhat remind me of the  Baroque Era. One of my good buys from Wet Seal during a 5 for $20 sale. Yay for $4 printed jeans.

Go-to faux snake skin heels.

Alexander McQueen inspired spiked clutch from Vynna, one of my favorite Christmas presents. Thanks mane!

The David Crockett Hat

This post will seemingly be a late post and I’m not surprised if you’ll be reading this entry by the new year. Old habits, die hard but I should be working on it..it is a start of 2013 after all which gives me enough reason to do so.  But then again, we say that every year, don’t we? Haha. The irony.

Seldom does the winter breeze pass by in my side of town (or city if I might say), so when it does all the coats and the fur in my closet come out. Today the weather was just right and I still have lots of last minute shopping to do. You see, I don’t only have to do Christmas shopping for myself, yearly (until the kids are older) I get assigned with helping my younger siblings shop for the people in our family and let’s not forget there’s 10 of us (including Todd, the family dog). Preferably, I shop all throughout the year and so when the Holiday comes all I have to do is finish up on those people on the list that I missed out and just wrap the gifts. And done.

Not this year..it’s the 23rd and I’m still up and about making my way around First Colony with the rest of the world and it’s last minute shoppers. Ho ho ho…

(CAP: Coonskin, Denver/ ANORAK: Wet Seal/ TANK TOP: No Boundaries/ JEGGINGS: Wet Seal/ WEDGES: faux fur, 5,7,9; from Pauline and Marie/ PURSE: Miley Cyrus, from Roxi/ SUNGLASSES: Shasa, $2.00 on sale/ ACCESSORIES: NECKLACE: from Paulo; RING: H&M; BRACELETS: Dream, BCBG; Studded, Forever 21)

The wedges,I got from my sisters last Christmas. They hang out with me while I Christmas shop and watch me drool over stuff I want to get myself ( but can’t since it’s the season of giving) and they get it for me anyway. They are the sweetest.

Pre-shopping pose.

Closer view of the hat and the sunnies. I actually got the coonskin cap for someone but I wanted to keep it for myself and so I ended up not giving it. Bad,I know.

A new add-on to the arm candy: DREAM. I only started wearing it when I gave out the 2 other ones to Roxi and Ann.

Rarely Rugged.

Anyhow, to those similarly last-minute shoppers out there who are still confused and are deciding what to get—as David Crockett would say: ” If it feels right—go ahead”. ( Sheesh, I hope American Historians won’ take what I said as a mockery of his patriotism) Yeah, I kind of got curious on how these coonskin caps came about and ended up reading a whole lot on Davey Crockett. See, fashion is educational–if you let it.

Enjoy the holidays. I’ll catch you later (eventually, haha). Merry Christmas and have a Blessed New Year!

Of Sheer and Animal Elegance

A slightly ‘dressy’ take on Animal Print.

(TOP: Lace , CARDIGAN: No Boundaries/ SKIRT: thrifted from Angel’s Closet/ WEDGES: Bangkok, Thailand/ NECKLACE: Cebu, Philippines/ PURSE: Bijoux Terner, $10)

The lace top inside was too “out there”, I had to button up the cardigan.

Showing off my $10 clutch from Bijoux Terner. I found that store in fort Lauderdale so amusing.

Another find from the streets of Bangkok, Thailand.

This casual cardigan was thrifted from a Salvation Army close to my house, in fact it was a bit tattered and worn out when I bought it—precisely the reason why I fell in love with it. Rarely do people wear such pieces to project any sort of class especially when they’re cotton material animal prints that were ripped in some places. This isn’t exactly my go-to wardrobe when I want to dress up but with the help of a sheer pleated skirt that I purchased from ‘Angel’s Closet’ during my Dipolog Trip and Pearl Necklace that I got from Cebu before moving to Houston I was able to come up with an outfit that was church-worthy at least. Of course I made sure to button up that cardigan not to reveal my see-through lace top, too scandalous for Sunday I suppose. Haha.

Starting the year with a ROARrrrr

Frames borrowed from Stephen Aganan.Geek Chic Attempt.

You think, my outfit was inspired by this ring?

The texture of my wedges is love—stroke it.

(DRESS: Image from Paulo/ WEDGES: 579 from Pauline and Marie/ PURSE: from Veronica/ RINGS: Icing and F21/ BANGLES: Charming Charlie and F21/ NECKLACE: from Paulo/ EARRINGS: from Katsie)

I admit, the everything-animal-print was a bit over kill (fine, it was a LOT over kill) but who cares—they did say the theme for this year was animal print right? So I went all out. I added a playful color to my outfit by painting my nails Hot Pink and using thesame shade on my lips. Around this season, I always tend to sport “the bangs” just coz it’s the only time of the year where it’s not too hot to get it. Coincidentally, the entire outfit is a compilation of Christmas gifts from people who are mostly dear to me, the dress from my brother, the wedges from my sisters, the purse from my ex co-worker and the earrings from my brother’s girlfriend. Yep, my outfit is full of love just like this season (wahaha..cheezy)

Roxi’s oh-so-chic Christmas Tree. I just adore her ornaments.

Our host didn’t miss a thing, even the food presentations.

I thought we were having a feast for animals…everything was too fancy. Haha.

Rhea’s Vintage Casette Iphone and Vynna’s Vintage Camera Iphone

When the beauty junkee decided to share her new MAC shade. Everyone had the same lip color after dinner. Haha

This year’s theme: Come as an “ANIMAL”. roar.
