A Pastel Baby Shower

A few hours after Eva’s 1st Birthday, we headed home. My in-laws were throwing us a baby shower/ going away party (despedida) and the mini-reunion pretty much continued in the comforts of our own home. As if the goodies earlier weren’t more than enough, they had a whole new set of cupcakes, cake pops, cookies and a personalized cake just for Spriki, I mean Cassie. 😀 Thanks mami for coming up with this get together and thanks Pauline for organizing this whole thing!

Eva’s Ice Cream Party

This little baby decided to spend her 1st birthday here in the Philippines (Bacolod to be specific) and coincidentally Marco and I were really planning to be there around that time. It was quite a family affair, a mini reunion if I must say. Here are a few snippets from her Mint/ Baby Pink Themed Ice Cream Party. DROOL.

Just had to take a photo.

Not only was this good, it was also in theme. Haha, Thanks Pia!

Btw, thanks to Mariana Lopa and Angel Lopa for some of the photos! I can’t seem to figure out where I saved my shots on the details of the party including the delectable invite. I’ll update this post once I get a hold of ’em. Enjoy!

Anvaya Cove

July 27 – 28, 2015

When in Manila and you want to plan a last minute out-of-town getaway people usually settle for the usual Tagaytay, Subic and Bataan to name a few, depends on what activities you’re interested in doing. Tito Tommy, Rachel, Sophia and Eva being here on vacation from Florida was a perfect excuse to go out of town with the (Ruiz de Luzuriaga) family and mami being the super mom that she is secured us a few rooms at Anvaya Cove in Morong, Bataan (see, what did I tell you…Bataan, haha). For a last minute trip with top of the line accommodations, of course we were beyond ecstatic. The Luzuriagas only had a few more days before flying back to the US and as much as I wanted Marco to come with us so we could spend time with his family, he also just had a few more days before his USMLE Step 1 exam so he stayed behind.

Usually the travel time from Manila, or specifically Alabang (since that’s where we were coming from) to Bataan takes around 3-4 hours but we totally forgot about the Iglesia ni Cristo Centennial celebration that was happening that day so traffic caught us by surprise and it was not in anyway funny. Buses, cars, jeepneys, trucks…all sorts of vehicles were parked along NLEX leaving the 4-lane express way into a one-lane traffic jam. NLEX in an instant just became their own private parking space, How is that legal?!? Anyway that totally messed up the plans for the day and we had to improvise, our 3-hour drive became a crazy 6-hour one.

Anyway here are a few photos of our short trip:

To make up for that crappy traffic jam was an enjoyable lunch at Meat Plus, when in Subic it is a must to stop by and enjoy their reasonably priced Baby back ribs, steak and whatever else they’re known for.

Bye, Anvaya. It was good while it lasted.

Btw, I’m ending this blog post with a fun fact…I did one of the first TVCs for Anvaya Cove ages ago when Ayala was still trying to market the resort. I played a teenage daughter for one of the families, haha.

Black, White and Pink—We’re Having a Baby Girl!

My LaVista family decided to throw me a “simple” baby shower/ despedida party for me and Marco before leaving for the US; they opted to do it at home with close family and friends. On the morning of the baby shower the winds were blowing our tents like crazy and the rain wouldn’t stop pouring. Since everything was pretty much DIY except for the food (we had it catered) we had trouble doing the set up, we were scared that the winds might tip over Mita Wee’s crystal stands for the candies and might just blow away Mita Bo’s tea cup collection but I swear as soon as the baby shower started the weather turned out for the best. We didn’t expect the food to be more than enough too so I’m sure that God was with us during this baby shower.

This was literally a “Ramas-girls production” and it was a complete success. To my lovely aunts, Mita Bo and Mita Wee, who planned this entire event, I really appreciate you doing this for me. Thanks to Dada Benj, Mita Bo (tea set up) and Mita Wee (prize table set up) for throwing the baby shower and for allowing me to take part in the execution. Ate Roma and Kuya JJ for helping us with the pink goodies for the goodies table (we had pink fondue and pink kropek that wasn’t food-dyed, mind you), Paolo and Brianna for helping us with balloons and putting up the decorations, Eunice for the cute baby girl yumminess, I mean cupcakes that handed out as giveaways and all the manangs and manongs at home for helping us with pretty much everything especially the set-up… Thank you for this labor of love!!!
