Who is “Spriki”?

Happy momma-to-be

Looks like a beer belly to me. haha.

Wasn’t really sure if I was up for posting maternity OOTDs but I guess I’m giving them a try. Can’t predict when my hormones are planning to act up either so I am not going to be pressuring myself to take OOTDs every week just to monitor my pregnancy bump. Speaking of the size of my bump, I’ve gotten a lot of feedback already saying I’m showing a bit earlier than expected but my OB says its normal for petite girls to show so early in the pregnancy. Thank God I didn’t go through the vomiting phase either, yes I’ve wanted to puke a few times or so but I guess I’m more disgusted with the thought of vomit so I just don’t do it, hahaha. So far this pregnancy has been kind to me although I’m not going to lie, I dread the scary changes in my body thanks to the horror stories of some of the mothers that I’ve talked to, I guess I am vain after all.I am sooooo not looking forward to the stretch marks, darkening of the neck, darkening of the underarms, belly button popping out, swollen extremities, swollen nose and that dark linea nigra on my belly but as long as my baby is safe and healthy then I really don’t mind at all.

Right now we don’t know the gender of the baby yet so my husband has resorted to calling our baby a  disgustingly funny name that caught on. It started out with us picking names for our baby and Marco, being the funny guy that he is started blurting out stupid made up names like “Kapitan Love”. Well, he started calling our baby with one of those “stupid names”—“Spriki” and because he just kept saying it over and over again I found myself calling him/her that name too. So now the entire household has joined in the name calling, from siblings, cousins, friends, our manangs , even our parents sometimes call the baby “Spriki” so “Spriki” it is until we find out his/her gender. Hahaha, you are a very loved baby, “Spriki”. Btw, “Spriki” is short for “Sprikitik” and if you get a chance to find out what that Filipino slang means, just don’t bother (seriously, I mean it).

P.S. If she’s a girl, Sandro and Pilica says we should call her “Sprikitika”. Guh-reat! 😀

And It Was Positive…

(TOP: U-shape open back top; Market Market/ SHORTS: Black Faux Leather Animal Prints Shorts; Forever 21/ SHOES: Ellie Metallic Espadrilles; Rubi/ SUNGLASSES: Vintage Oversized Frames; Christian Dior/ PURSE: Metallic Blue Clutch; Simply Vera Vera Wang)

I got challenged when my husband hinted that I couldn’t carry espadrilles and backpacks—he said it just wasn’t my thing, so for Christmas those were the exact things I had him buy me. Of course I wanted to prove him wrong, espadrilles were never my preference but I think I look fine in them. What do you think?

Simple Flat Lay of today’s #OOTD. 😀

Spot our Wedding Video by MVP that came in a few day’s ago, can’t wait to watch the entire thing with the mister.

————————————————————————————-

Btw, I just found out yesterday that I’m pregnant. Marco and I are going to have our own little family and I’m going to be a mommy! Exciting times ahead.

Funny story really…Marco was at work the entire day and I was supposed to get an ultrasound not for anything else but to check if everything in my “system” was okay. Something urged me to not do the ultrasound and buy a pregnancy test instead, I don’t know what it was I guess it was my woman’s instincts bothering me, so I did. I figured if I buy this test and it comes out positive then I don’t have to do the ultrasound anymore because clearly my “system” is working perfectly fine and it’ll save us some money.

I tested and the first line was distinct, the second line was barely there and so I thought “that’s another negative”, I put it back inside the box then inside the brown paper bag and tossed it in the trash. But I was still uneasy and I knew I wasn’t imagining the second line being barely there so I googled it. Yes, Google is very useful in times like these and I checked pictures of positive pregnancy tests and some of their tests looked just like mine, I would later find out from my husband that the reason why the second line was faded was because the Hcg levels weren’t high enough for the test to detect it but it did detect the little of what was there and so it was still faded. You could picture what happened next…I went through my trash, pulled out the brown paper bag, took out the box, re-opened it and there it was the second line more distinct than before. I was pregnant!

And here it is…

Marco a few days prior to this would tease me a lot, he’d rub my tummy and say “hellooooo and welcome” like how Jason Segel in the comedy Sex Tape said it. He came home from work around 10 pm that night and I welcomed him with my version of “hellooooo and welcome” while waving the test in the air. He said “what’s that?” but he was already smiling, I gave the test to him and asked him “that’s a positive, right?” He saw both lines and smiled.

Today we’re going to the lab to confirm the pregnancy with blood work.  (that too would come out positive)

P.S: Hopefully I won’t be too insecure to post pregnant ootds after this. Haha.

Recently got this snakeskin print shirt dress from Mom and it simply is the easiest to wear, the material is light and its a piece that’s easy to dress up or down. I opted to cinch it with my go-to red skinny belt that happened to be made of faux snake skin which gave my outfit some texture and not to mention the pop of color that my bland ensemble needed. I accessorized with gold from head to toe except for the new white Druzy Ring that I got from Minted Jewelry. Shout out to Tiny Salloman, a good friend of mine since Kindergarten, for providing us with such classy pieces. You can check her items on Instagram, IG name: mintedjewelry.

Enjoy the rest of your week guys!

Plantation Bay: Mogambo Springs

January 14- 15, 2015

“Ghetto moment” story but I promise I’m going to make it short—our flight to Cebu arrived 1am on the day we were supposed to check-in Plantation Bay. We were availing a GC that we got from our wedding and we weren’t sure when else to avail of it since we’re supposed to be flying back to Houston any time soon, so amidst the Sinulog craze they said they could squeeze us in, it was only for one day anyway. The only problem was we couldn’t get any flights later than the one we took because all the mid-morning flights’ prices were jacked up so we decided to take that early morning flight and figured we’d just bum around the Plantation Bay premises and wait until check-in time at 3pm.

There we were, Marco and I, sitting at the lobby  and it was only 2 am. I suddenly realized we still had 11 hours to go, so naturally Marco ended up sleeping in one of their couches in semi-fetal position. Although I was extremely exhausted, I was too embarrassed for both our sakes to do what he was doing so I dozed off  sitting down. At 5am, Marco felt a slight poke….it was the lady at the front desk, thank God, she was nice enough to feel bad for us and allowed us to check-in 10 hours before the time we were supposed to. And that’s how being “ghetto” got us a comfy bed and a restful night’s (more like early morning) sleep. Thanks Plantation Bay!

Christmas is still in the air here in Plantation Bay

Checking in at 5 am. That bed really looks inviting!

Goodies from Cebu, compliments of Plantation Bay

Fully rested and off to explore with the husband

Of course we had to stay in a suite that was complicated to pronounce.  No worries, we got it eventually…haha. Chenonceu. Mmm hmm..it’s French.

The view from our balcony…how beautiful is that!

A place where tourists could experience our local butong (coconut)

Marco and I opted for an hour of foot massage and greatly enjoyed the Zen-like ambiance of Mogambo Springs

We were advised to come in an hour early so we could also enjoy the hot springs, sauna and other amenities

Green Tea upon arrival…refreshing

The contrast of Zen rocks are lovely, don’t you think?

Can’t help but think we’re in Japan because of their cute village setting

Checking our neighbors out.

Dinner date with the husband at Kilimanjaro Kafe
